Like most people, one of my goals for the new year is to start working out on a regular basis. I’ve already started my yoga practice and want to add other exercises in the mix, at least 3 times a week. Since we’re becoming debt free and money (and time) is scarce, I needed to find quick, effective, and *ahem* FREE ways to work out at home. Here’s what I’ve come up with:
- YouTube. As you probably know, if you want to learn how to do something you can find it on YouTube. Workouts are no exception. I’ve started with two channels: LIVESTRONG Woman and TaraStilesYoga. Each channel offers plenty of options to get started and even more to keep you going. I’ll add more channels eventually, but for now I’m a happy girl.
- I’m using the DVDs I already own. Duh, right? We all have them, so why not use them? If you don’t own any, then borrow some from your family and friends. Trust me, they have some. 🙂
- Hit the library. Your local library most likely has tons of workout DVDs for you to borrow. Some libraries even offer video streaming, so you don’t even have to leave home. Take advantage of what our lovely libraries have to offer so you can save your money!
- Pinterest. I’ve found SO many great workout routines on Pinterest, there’s really no excuse for paying to workout ever again. I started a board on Pinterest – you can check it out here.
There are tons more options to get my workout on from home, and as the weather warms up I plan to take my workouts outside. For now, I’m excited to be back on the path to health and will make it my business to do a little something every single day.
