3 Ways To Become Happier Everyday

When asked what most people want the most in life, the common response is “to be happy.” Happiness seems to be this elusive thing that is just outside our grasp. Many of us chase it like it’s the last bus of the night, when it fact we’re the one in the driver’s seat. We’re in control of our happiness and that means we can become happier everyday. Happiness is available in every moment, and it’s up to us to tap into it. Truthfully, it’s easier to do than you think.

Affirm your happiness everyday. Before you get out of bed in the morning, take a few minutes to think happy thoughts and affirm the type of day you will have. You can say something like, “I am happy and only happiness comes to me.” It might seem weird at first, but it’ll become second nature over time. I’m using Marianne Williamson’s book, A Year of Miracles: Daily Devotions and Reflections for my daily affirmations.

Put on some happy tunes. Music is one of the loves of my life, so I constantly have it on to keep my sanity make me happy. Turn off the news, get off of the internet, put on some jams and rock it out. If you can’t think of a song that makes you get up and dance, listen to Pharrell Williams’, Happy. I dare you to not smile when it’s on.

There’s an app for that. Yes, literally, there’s a Happier app. The app and accompanying website lets you capture and share your happy moments with others who are all about sharing the happy. According to the website, Happier is a social gratitude journal combined with a positive community. I’ve been using it for the last couple of weeks and, I have to say, I find myself thinking happier thoughts more often than before. You can select daily reminders to stop and reflect on your happy moments throughout the day. I’m happy I stumbled upon this pretty cool concept that actually works.
