Homemade Cinnamon Sugar Popcorn

I made the easiest, most delicious homemade popcorn yesterday. I’ve never gotten fancy with my popcorn making before, but wanted to do something different for my youngest sun’s preschool snack day. So, guess where I went for ideas. You’ll NEVER guess. Tee hee. Good ‘ole Pinterest, of course. Let me just say…. I had no idea just how far popcorn flavoring had come. Seriously. It’s kinda ridiculous… ridiculously awesome! After checking out different, more *ahem* creative options, I went with something simple that I hopefully wouldn’t mess up. Thankfully I ‘did good’ and it was not only hubby approved, but I didn’t come home with any leftovers from preschool. You know it’s a hit when preschoolers tear it up!

Here’s the recipe I used from undercovercaterer.com. I tweaked it a bit by pouring the cinnamon sugar mixture over the popcorn and forgoing baking it. Next time I’ll bake the popcorn so it’s less sticky. I should’ve listened to Nana. 🙂

Nana’s Cinnamon Sugar Popcorn
  • 12 cups popped popcorn
  • 1/3 cup butter, melted
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 tsp salt (I used a whole tsp)
  • 3/4 tsp cinnamon

  • Preheat the oven to 300.
  • Mix the popcorn, melted butter and other ingredients in a large bowl.
  • Spread the mixed popcorn onto a baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes, stirring halfway through.

I can see making this snack frequently because the kids LOVE popcorn. I can forsee trying many more flavored popcorn options, too. We might even give it away as Christmas/holiday gifts. I know I’d love to get some for a gift!
